This year I finally got back on skis. The break was 10 years long, so I had to buy almost everything. And, back then we didn't use helmets. A new world of brands, models, colours and prices has just opened for me. After picking a brand (I chose POC because of their reputation and my own experience with POC protective gear) and a model (in some I looked like an alien for crying out loud) I picked the shop (Amazon had a green one I wanted for a half a price). The beauty arrived in white box of Scandinavian design. It contained:
- helmet
- helmet pouch
- goggle clip
- sheet of POC stickers
Helmet itself has nice and simple looks. Besides all technical stuff that you can check on the link below, also fits great and light on your head. The fit is adjustable with a system on the back of the helmet, which makes it work for variety of heads. Inner lining has an anti-static treatment, so there is no static hair all over your face when putting it on and of your head (trying helmets in local shops always irritate me so much just because of annoying static hair). The helmet also has removable ear pieces, that can be left at home on warmer days. Two air vents provide air flow to keep your head cool. The neck strap is well padded and very comfy. The fit is also comfortable enough for wearing prescription or sun glasses, although you may feel their temple arms behind the ears on those colder days. ![]() |

If you are using the ski goggles you can actually wear them with or without goggle clip. If they sit good against your helmet and even have silicon on their strap go for without. If they don't or you just want to make sure they stay on use the clip. It is easy to attach, you will just have to push it between liner and a shell. Pouch comes handy as it protects helmet from the dirt, but I have a feeling it will become dirty pretty soon, due to the its shiny white colour. The only con I found so far is helmets surface (green, pink and white are mat, black is glossy). It quite sensitive and I have a feeling it can get scratched quite easily. Mine already has a few dirty marks of unknown origin (probably I bumped whit it against a ski lift or something).
Pros:
- very adjustable
- removable goggle clip
- comfortable fit
- nice looks
Cons:
- sensitive outer surface
I haven't figure out what to do with stickers :).
